この本は、star~kimことMihee Cho（1968年釜山生まれ、生まれてまもなくベルギー人の里子にだされ、長じてアーティストとなり、親を捜して韓国に渡った女性）とonegookことHers Kate（1976年ソウル生まれ、Miheeと同じ境遇でアメリカに里子に出された女性）の手による、本国を離れ海外で活躍するコリアンアーティスト（20代〜30代）の年鑑である。

掲載されているアーティストは３０名、今年の７月に第２号が刊行される予定である。
取材、編集、スポンサー探しまですべて自らの手によってなされている。
彼女たちは現在ソウルに在住し、アルバイトなどで生計を営みながら、活動している。

アルン事務局に５月初旬に連絡が来て、５月末にソウルにて本人達と直接会った。
Volume 1に多く掲載されたアーティスト達は、そのほとんどが「海外里子」であり、在日コリアンの生い立ちとは大きく違うが、「海外で育ち、自己のアイデンティティーを問い直す」 彼、彼女たちの仕事は非常に真摯であり、アルンのコンセプトに充分添うものに思えた。因って、今後相互に協力し合っていくこととなった。以下にその一部を紹介する。

Ha Jeeyun

１９７６年　釜山生れ
parson's school　デザイン科卒業
いろんな所で展示会を開いている。
小学校で教師をし、デトロイトで子供たちのためのサマーアートプログラムに参加している。
現在ソウルに居住。

(Statement)
My work has definitive sensual/sexual elemaent in texture,color,image,or subject matter. The personal and the political/social is completely intertwined and this is what I hope is reflected in my art. Using much of the color red: a loaded color, seductive and appealing to the eye, I associate blood, hot, passion, madness, joy, good luck(east), whore(west), celebration, spicy, erotic, stop, buring(desire), and shame.

私の作品は、質感、色、イメージ、または主題においても、明確で官能的で性的な要素を持っている。
個人的なもの、政治的なもの、社会的なものは完全に絡み合っている。

Hahn Raymond

１９６７年　ロサンゼルス生れ
ロサンゼルスに住んでいる在米２世の写真家。
彼はロスとソウルに住んでいる。

My work is involves examining some of the relationship that exist between georaphy and culture in an Asian American frame of context.
I attempt to analyze of identification a person may have with their ethnic background and the circumstances that promote or preclude this.

私の作品には、アジア系アメリカ人と言う背景の枠組みのなかにある地理と文化との間に存在するいくつかの関係を調べることが含まれている。
人間が、個人の民族的背景の中で持っているであろう自己証明をより深めるか、もしくは排除しようとする事情に対して調べようとしている。

１９６５年　ソウル生れ
１９７１年ベルギー家にＪｕｎｇＨｅｉｎと言う名前で里子に出される。
ブリュッセルのＳａｉｎｔＬｕｃで作業場で勉強し、ブリュッセルのアート専門学校のイラスト部門を専攻した。

(Statement)
The finality of drawings is for him to make a show through emoions and feelings, with characters quite present and alive. To tell stories with images. The drawing is the means to the end. Even through it is violent and exotic, all the element have a purpose in relationship with the story.

彼にとって絵を描くことの結末は、まさしく現代的で生き生きとした性質を持って、感情と気持ちを持ってショ−を作ることだ。
絵は最後の手段だ。

I am interested in communication with foreign sounds, meaning,and pronunciation.
Through culture, the connection with the visual/graphic and interpretation will be understood, misunderstood, or puzzled.

Adopted at the age of 6 months old by an American couple,Kate grew up in Detroit,Michigan. Since her retune to Korean for the first time in 1997,she has been dedicated to an artmaking that attempts to reinvent “Korean-ness”while incorporating the influences of her adoption history, her recent explorations in Korean culture, and her Western upbringing.
She hopes to raise a consciousness in the Korean race, American people, and Adoptee community, a woman, a Krean, or an Adoptee.

生後６ヶ月の時、アメリカ人夫婦の養女になったkateはミシガン州のデトロイトで育った。
彼女は１９９７年に初めて韓国に戻った以来、“コリアンらしさ”を再び見つけるため、制作活動に捧げてきた。
一方では彼女の養子歴、韓国文化の再発見、そして西洋での成長が与えた影響を組み入れている。
コリアン民族、アメリカ人、そしてアメリカにおいての養子社会の中でアメリカ人として、女性として、コリアンとして、そして養子として生きる道が決して一つではないという意識を高めることを彼女は望んでいる。
